Oldest dwelling US male giraffe, Jimmie, in animal equal of hospice care in Maryland, Plumpton Park Zoo handlers say


RISING SUN, Md. — The oldest dwelling male giraffe within the U.S., if not the world, is now within the animal equal of “hospice care.”

“Jimmie” the giraffe has lived at Plumpton Park Zoo in Maryland for 25 years. The zoo studies the three,000-pound animal now lives in a brand new state-of-the-art giraffe barn with a crew of veterinarians dealing with his medical care, in line with CNN.

Being 26-years previous is a feat for Jimmie as a result of male giraffes not often make it to twenty, in line with specialists.

A foot or leg downside usually results in an early loss of life.

The zoo says Jimmie developed a hoof downside again in 2010, however because of his medical care, the zoo says he has defied the chances for over 11 years.
