[game show music]

H. Jon Benjamin: That is Bird Not. I am H. Jon Benjamin. [applause]

At the moment the great folks at BirdNote have put collectively just a little quiz for me to check my birding-by-sound expertise. They will play me a sound. And I simply must guess if it is a chicken…or not. I actually hope I cross. Okay. Sound primary, hit me.

[Black-capped Chickadee call, ML 202239]

That is a chicken. [ding!] [applause] It is a small songbird. That narrows it down. Uh… sparrow. [buzzer] Oh my God. Okay. That was a Black-capped Chickadee.

All proper. So I bought the primary one fallacious, however now I believe I will go on a roll.

[Cat meows]

That’s not a chicken. [ding!] That’s my grandmother seeing a mouse. [buzz] [crowd groans] Ha! That’s shut. So shut. That is a home cat.

[Northern Cardinal song, ML 24184651]

That’s a large chicken. That was a large chicken. Was that Massive Bird from Sesame Avenue? [buzzer] [crowd sighs] Northern Cardinal. One among my favorites.

[Tina from Bob’s Burgers sounding stressed with wind in the background]

[laughs] I can guarantee you that that’s Tina from Bob’s Burgers. [ding ding ding!]

[Squeaky hinge with wave noises in background]

I really feel like that is like some type of porpoise or dolphin, or that is a loopy chicken that is splashing round in a large chicken tub. [buzz] [crowd groans] Oh, my God, it was a squeaky cupboard door! …or there is a porpoise in that cupboard.

    [Blue Jay call, ML 216524141]

That’s most likely some type of raptor, perhaps a hawk. If not, a Blue Jay impersonating a Hawk. [ding ding ding!] [applause] HA!!!

Wow. I can not consider I bought one. For BirdNote, this has been H. Jon Benjamin.
