“Heshimu was discovered this morning motionless in her indoor habitat,”the Denver Zoo workers tweeted on Friday. “After consulting keepers and veterinary workers, we decided Heshi’s situation was unrecoverable, and she or he was humanely euthanized within the presence of her care staff.”

Affectionately referred to as “Heshi” by her zookeepers, she was born Sept. 12, 2002 at San Diego Zoo Safari Park and was moved to Denver on Could 9, 2007.
